Fall in Love with Your Voice

Hi, I’m Alisa,

and I help people heal through singing—

to fully own their voice and use it for its most powerful and fulfilling expression.

As a classically-trained soprano with decades of performing experience and a lifelong health enthusiast, yogi, and 500 hour certified yoga instructor, I understand what it takes to let go of everything that is holding you back, to allow your most brilliant self to shine through.

Is your singing a source of stress? Do you dread the idea of performing, especially songs you perceive as difficult? Have you been stuck for a while and you’re not sure how to move forward?

All growing up, it was clear I had talent. I was put into voice lessons young. I often entertained my parents’ dinner guests and was called upon to perform and compete on a regular basis. My singing was a reliable way for me to impress people and feel their approval.

I went on to sing in lead roles at opera houses and with orchestras, and spent a lot of time in the spotlight, garnering accolades for my vocal brilliance. But this approach to singing felt more and more hollow as the years passed, and eventually brought certain parts of my range to a  screeching halt, as if to say, “No more!” in protest.

It wasn’t until I reconnected with my own inner passion for music as a meaningful vehicle of self-expression that my voice became effortless and joyful like never before. At first it felt selfish, but then, in time, I knew it was actually essential–and a great gift–not just for me, but for everyone.

Ready to Fall in Love with Your Voice?

Join me on a vocal journey like no other where you will discover everything there is to love about your unique voice and learn to use it boldly, without apology, to move yourself and others with your tremendous gifts.

Get Started

“Don’t ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.” -Howard Thurman

Imagine a world in which all of humanity expresses itself regularly with joyful sounds that emanate from the emotion of mankind’s shared human experience. Imagine being able to connect compassionately and vulnerably with each other, by tapping in daily to the stillness within, where our individual gifts reside, for the well-being of all.

I created my Singing That Connects Six Month Immersion with these lofty aspirations in mind, where I can help one singer at a time to heal as they uncover and embrace the immense beauty of their true self and the full extent of their voice’s power.

Love from past clients and students

"Working with Alisa did all of the things I needed: strengthened my vocal support, helped me sing in healthy places (i.e. not in my throat), increased my musical vocabulary and gave me effective warmups to get my voice back into shape. Working with Alisa also gave me innumerable gifts that were wholly unexpected: patience with and kindness to myself, acceptance of myself just as I am, and the recognition that my voice is a unique gift, one does not need to be compared to anyone else in order to have value. In truth, my sessions with Alisa often felt like therapy in the best way. She helped me step outside of my comfort zone and let my voice be heard apart from the crowd. The technical coaching notwithstanding, these are the gifts that have stayed with me.

If you are thinking about working with a vocal coach, you will find none as skilled, as supportive, and as compassionate as Alisa."

"In a time where I was struggling deeply to remember my passion and joy for music, Alisa was a phenomenal force in my corner! She was not concerned merely with me bettering my technique, but also truly connecting with my music and myself. She understands that singing is not only a work of the body, but also of the soul, and has a way of really connecting the two.Working with her was a turning point at that time in my life, helping me bring joy, passion, and connection to my practice, as well as solidifying my voice, both literally and figuratively. I am so grateful for her impact on my voice and musicianship! She helped me reconnect with my voice, and I know she could do the same for so many people!!"

My official vocal journey began at age twelve when I began private voice lessons and visited the library to check out all the cassette tapes I could find of operatic sopranos and Ella Fitzgerald. As a music major in my undergrad, I was also pre-med for a few years, but decided to stick with singing as my main thrust. My education and career took me to stages from coast to coast in the US and in Europe. I was thrilled when I had my solo debut at Carnegie Hall in New York City!

It was all very exciting, but eventually led me to understand that striving to be the best can be a very lonely road, especially when you are constantly hustling to prove your worth in the process. Striving for connection, on the other hand, with myself, my music, my collaborators, and my audience was the path to true joy. The real winner isn’t the one on top, it’s the one who is the most connected–to the Divine within and to each other. This is the birthplace of true collaboration and creativity.

My methodology offers the antidote to the pitfalls of singing that so many fall victim to, silencing their song.

Feeling shy?

A supportive community of like-minded singers all in the same boat (myself included) meets in a weekly online Masterclass to discuss philosophy, technique, and workshop songs and performance practice.

Feeling alone?

Multiple points of contact throughout the week’s practice through access to an online vault of vocal exercises and masterclass recordings along with unlimited asynchronous feedback over our community platform.

Lacking focus?

A daily yoga challenge including but not limited to: yoga, meditation, mantra, visualization, breathwork, and affirmations will energize you, regulate your nervous system and stabilize your mental state. Evening yoga will help you relax for a good night’s sleep (a boon for singers).

Do you love a holistic approach to healing, wellness, and feeling whole as a human being? The goal of this program is to care for the body (our instrument) harness the power of the mind (our imagination) and nurture our connection to spirit through spending time in stillness.

"Alisa perfectly balances support and expertise, creating an environment conducive to growth, & not just vocally! She truly understands the connection between our inner world and our outer manifestations & how that can affect voices. She’s helped me through my worst and my best moments vocally! Couldn’t be more grateful for her guidance and how it has impacted my ability to show up mentally and create some of the best & easiest sounds I’ve ever made vocally!"

“Working with Alisa Larsen was such a freeing and confidence-boosting experience. During the course, my vocal range grew, and more importantly, I got comfortable actually using my voice—letting it be heard in a way that felt natural and true to me. The course made me stronger, not just as a singer but as a person, and it completely changed how I think about performing. I realized that telling the story and feeling the song matter way more than nailing every note, which took so much pressure off and made singing more joyful. By the end, I added a new song to my repertoire and I found a whole new way to connect with music and myself!”

If you are feeling small, stuck, overwhelmed, distracted, broken, or uncomfortable in your singing, come and find healing in this community. You don’t need to wait. The time is now.

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, 'Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?' Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.” -Marianne Williamson, A Return to Love: Reflections on the Principles of "A Course in Miracles"
